It is my belief that working with anger is a challenging, yet gratifying experience.
Clients come to us from everywhere; they are doctors, lawyers, construction
workers, stay at home moms, truck drivers, etc. Anger is the one
thread they all have in common.
It is our vision that everyone can learn how to manage their anger
more effectively. It involves change. It involves a willingness
to learn. It involves a desire to lead a healthier and more successful
life.
The strategies and techniques that we teach are very concrete,
practical and applicable to almost any situation. The challenge
is for the client to learn to recognize that applying them to their
lives will not only involve strategic change, but also perceptual
change; in other words, our view of anger is also going to change.
Anger is good; we all need it. It is not the anger that is the problem.
It is in the individual's interpretation of the situation and his/her
aggressive expression of that interpretation.
Ultimately, it is my wish that clients come to see the value of
more internally directed behaviour rather than largely reacting
to external triggers and events in their lives. In other words,
to see anger management as more of a choice to improve one's character,
to grow, and to learn true and authentic power.
